John Avery has a broad range of
expertise in complex civil litigation, particularly environmental,
commercial, real estate, land use and trusts and estates.
Avery, formerly a partner in one of New Jersey's largest law
firms, has served as lead counsel in CERCLA (Superfund) litigation.
In one CERCLA action, he obtained a judgment dismissing more
than $7 million in claims, ultimately obtaining substantial
payments for his clients, originally the defendants. He has
also successfully defended a major class action involving
complex real estate issues involving approximately 350 beach
and beach vicinity properties for the property owner in a
shore community.
Avery's colleagues inside and outside the
courtroom praise his exceptional litigation skills, the ease
with which he handles complex cases, his professional demeanor
and his sensitivity to client needs. His collegial manner
makes him a natural fit for Kraemer Burns.
Avery graduated from Columbia College. He
earned a J.D. degree from New York University and served as
law clerk to New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Morris Pashman.
He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar
Association.
"I feel very much at home here because
of the quality and character of the people and the high professional
level of the work. The lawyers at Kraemer Burns are involved
in their cases from the outset. No one receives 'on-the-job
training' on a client file."
